Deep Blue Fluorescent Fluorite, William Wise Mine, Westmoreland, New Hampshire

Green octahedral fluorite crystals on a mixed matrix of colorless calcite and fluorite, from the William Wise Mine, Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire. The fluorite fluoresces deep blue under short wave UV, and brighter, very pure blue under long wave UV. The size of this specimen is 8.6 x 8.0 x 3.3 cm, and it weighs 274 grams.

Intense blue fluorescence is seen under long wave UV (365 nm), above.

Similar, but less intense blue fluorescence is seen under short wave UV (254 nm).
