This specimen contains grains of orange fluorescent turneaurite in a non-fluorescent matrix, from the ZCA No. 4 Mine, Balmat, St. Lawrence Co., New York. Turneaurite is a rare arsenate-containing member of the apatite group, and shows a bright orange fluorescent response under short wave UV. The size of this specimen is 76 x 43 x 29 mm, and it weighs 103 grams.
As shown above, under short wave UV (254 nm) the turneaurite fluoresces bright orange.
Same specimen shown under visible light.
