Ruby in marble, from Myanmar

Single ruby crystal, in calcitic marble, along with non-fluorescent graphite and a greenish mineral, which I assume is possibly olivine.

Under longwave UV, the rube fluoresces very bright red; it fluoresces weakly under shorter UV wavelengths. The calcitic marble matrix fluoresces dim blueish-violet under midwave UV.

Origin: Kyauk-Pyat-That, Mogok Township, Pyin-Oo-Lwin District, Mandalay Region, Myanmar

6,3 cm X 4,7 cm X 2 cm

The ruby is ~6 mm X 3,5 mm

Shown below under longwave, midwave and in visible light.
