Eucryptite, Harding Mine, Taos Co., New Mexico

This specimen contains intensely red fluorescent eucryptite in weak blue fluorescent spodumene, from the Harding Mine (Harding pegmatite), near Dixon, Taos Co., New Mexico. This piece is at its brightest under short wave UV, but also shows a similar, but dimmer response under mid wave UV. The long wave fluorescence is very weak (not pictured). This specimen measures 8.72 x 5.24 x 27.8 cm. and it weighs 139 grams.
