About

And another mineral collector got stung by the "glow bug"! I am a big fan of minerals since my early childhood years. I began collecting specimens myself in 2003, after moving in a region where interesting mineralogy is pretty widespread (in my hometown, there's not much to be found, that's why I began prospecting only in 2003). Then I gradually started growing a decent mineral collection from there. I initially began collecting "daylight", non fluorescent minerals, and doing some basic lapidary work on occasion; then, in 2016, I got my first shortwave UV lamp (a cheap, low quality 4 watt lamp, the one many started with). Then, in 2018, I found the fluorescent minerals group on facebook and things started getting more serious; at that point, I could not be saved from the severe addiction! Thanks to the precious knowledge members share on this group, I started building my own UV lights, improved my photography techniques (I must admit I am still a novice and own pretty basic photography equipment). Then I started focusing my prospection trips mostly on the chase for glow rocks in the summer of 2019. Since then, along with some of my partners, I started making interesting discoveries in my homeland province of Québec; I'm hoping that over time, my finds from local sites, including some new ones my partners and I discovered, will bring an interesting contribution to this great website!
